A distinctive sense of place.

FORESTIS approaches luxury from the opposite direction of an elaborate grand hotel. Here the central ideas are silence, forest, clean lines and the feeling of being high in the mountains. Set on the Plose slopes near Brixen, it faces the Dolomites and places the surrounding landscape at the heart of the guest experience.

Its sculptural suites and restrained interiors will appeal to travellers who love design but do not want an overly decorative environment. Wood, light, generous windows and proximity to nature shape the atmosphere. FORESTIS is a particularly compelling choice for couples planning a retreat, and a different proposition from a full-service family waterpark or city hotel.

Choosing the right room is crucial. A standard Room, Suite, Tower Suite and the exceptional Penthouse are not interchangeable. The Penthouse is a different level of privacy and facilities, with a rooftop pool and sauna; it should not be used to imply that every guest has a private pool.

Architecture & Atmosphere

The hotel's newer towers rise above the surrounding forest with a disciplined silhouette that echoes vertical trunks. Large glazing frames the mountain landscape while interiors use a restrained palette and tactile materials. Rather than competing with the Dolomites, the architecture tries to direct attention outward.

An older villa forms another part of the resort's story. Official descriptions present it as an early-twentieth-century retreat with its own garden and private spa, separately bookable for a larger private stay. This contrast between preserved heritage and contemporary towers helps give FORESTIS a layered identity.

Which view is yours?

Rooms, Tower Suites & Penthouse

The official accommodation listing identifies Rooms of approximately 35 square metres, Suites of 50 square metres and Tower Suites of 55 square metres. The two-person Penthouse is much larger, at around 200 square metres, with a terrace, private rooftop pool, spruce-wood sauna and panoramic outlook.

These differences are fundamental. Travellers tempted by imagery of a rooftop pool should ensure they are booking the Penthouse rather than a different category. Compare floor plans, exact views and any outdoor-space limitations, and confirm whether your dates align with the activities you want in the mountains.

Forest Cuisine

FORESTIS describes its culinary identity as Forest Cuisine, built around regional ingredients and natural processes. The principal restaurant has stepped seating that allows views toward the forest and peaks, reinforcing the sense that dining belongs to the landscape.

The property has also introduced the YERA dining concept, described by the hotel as an immersive experience built around alpine ingredients and a setting within the mountainside. Specialist experiences can require planning or separate booking; verify current availability and whether your chosen package includes dinner.

Silence as a wellness ritual

Spa & Retreats

The spa is inspired by the four elements and local Celtic traditions, according to the hotel. It treats the alpine environment as part of the wellness experience: mountain air, light, water and measured time offer an alternative to the more clinical style of some international spa resorts.

Check the actual treatment programme and facilities for your visit. Some retreats, guided practices or specialist therapies may be separate from the room price. Travellers with particular accessibility or medical requirements should discuss those directly with the property.

Mountain time

Plose & the Dolomites

The setting on the Plose mountain creates opportunities for walks and outdoor activity across the seasons. Snow changes the rhythm in winter; spring and summer open a different relationship with forest paths and alpine views. Weather, trail access and available excursions are seasonal.

FORESTIS is best considered a retreat with optional mountain exploration, rather than a base from which to rush between many distant sights each day. Travellers who want to venture widely through South Tyrol should plan transportation and realistic travel times.

Above the valley

Location & Getting There

The property is in Palmschoß on the Plose slopes, above Brixen in South Tyrol. FORESTIS confirms an altitude of approximately 1,800 metres and a distance of 18 km by road from Brixen. The secluded forest environment is a central reason to visit; it also makes transfer planning important, particularly during winter conditions.

Official arrival guidance lists Bolzano Airport at about 50 km and Innsbruck Airport at about 90 km. The hotel offers pre-arranged Tesla X or minibus transfers from railway stations and airports, subject to availability and an extra charge. Compare routes and confirm transfer pricing in advance rather than assuming a complimentary shuttle. Mountain road and rail connections are weather-dependent.

Important guest and booking rules: FORESTIS welcomes guests aged 14 and over, so it is not suitable for families with younger children. Its official FAQ currently states that a 30% advance payment and written confirmation secure a reservation. Published standard cancellation charges are 50% of the total for cancellation 29–11 days before arrival and 100% from 10 days before arrival; delayed arrival, early departure and no-shows can also incur the full charge. Rates or packages may have different conditions, so always read the terms shown for your specific reservation. Official check-in is from 3 p.m. and check-out is by 11 a.m..

For a quieter trip, plan enough time at the property rather than scheduling daily long-distance sightseeing. A mountain retreat feels different when the journey itself is unhurried. Verify access to the Plose ski area or hiking trails according to season, weather and operating dates.
